2026 Jetour T2 officially launched in Malaysia – priced at RM156,800

Jetour Malaysia has officially launched the latest SUV model, the 2026 Jetour T2.

This mid-sized SUV is built on the Kunlun unibody architecture and is designed for light off-road activities.

The 2026 Jetour T2 is priced at RM156,800.

In conjunction with the launch, Jetour Malaysia is also offering the following packages:

  • 7-year warranty or a mileage limit of 150,000 km
  • 10-year engine warranty or a mileage limit of 1 million km
  • Free service package (5 times)
  • Cash rebate of RM2,000 (for the first 3,000 customers)

Specifications of the 2026 Jetour T2

This SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine, paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission.

It delivers approximately 241 hp @ 5,500 rpm and a torque of 375 Nm @ 1,750-4,500 rpm, which is then transmitted to the Intelligent XWD all-wheel-drive system.

The Jetour T2 offers seven driving modes, including an adaptive X mode.

Exterior Features

The SUV measures 4,785 mm in length, 2,036 mm in width, 1,960 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,800 mm.

It uses a MacPherson strut suspension setup in the front and a multilink setup in the rear.

The Jetour T2 boasts a 28-degree approach angle, a 30-degree departure angle, a ground clearance of 220 mm, and can wade through water up to 700 mm deep.

Other features include:

  • A front grille that lights up with the word “JETOUR”

Ruf Rodeo: more than just a modified 911 for off-roading

Approximately five years after the introduction of the concept model, Ruf has officially revealed the production version of the Rodeo during Monterey Car Week.

This is not merely a modified Porsche 911 for off-road driving.

The Ruf Rodeo features a specially designed carbon fiber monocoque chassis, complemented by bash bar components integrated directly into the front and rear bumpers.

With a wider track of 41 mm at the front and 142 mm at the rear, Ruf has paired it with wider fender flares compared to the SCR model.

For off-road driving, the Rodeo is equipped with pushrod coilovers complete with active dampers, allowing for a ground clearance of up to 242 mm.

All four wheel corners come fitted with 18-inch rims, Goodyear all-terrain tires, a carbon ceramic brake system consisting of six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, along with 350 mm brake rotors.

In terms of power, the Rodeo is equipped with a 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six engine that generates up to 610 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

This power is transmitted to an adjustable all-wheel-drive system through a six-speed manual transmission.

Additionally, it features a limited slip differential (LSD) on both the front and rear axles.

Inside the cabin, the Ruf Rodeo boasts modern features such as air conditioning, bucket seats, leather/Alcantara trims, and a three-spoke steering wheel.

Jaecoo J8 promises “first-class” off-road experience – is it true?

More than a year after its first unveiling, Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia has officially launched their second SUV model, the Jaecoo J8, last month.

Retaining the off-road theme, the Jaecoo J8 presents a more elegant and luxurious image compared to its sibling, the J7.

During the launch, the J8 was described as a rugged vehicle providing a first-class passenger experience.

To demonstrate the true capability of this SUV in more challenging terrain, Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia hosted an off-road driving experience session at Sepang Bay 13.

Several obstacles were set up, starting with the Rock Crawl section, a 30-degree Side Slope, a Log Run simulating a path over logs, and a Water Wading section.

The rainy weather in the early morning provided a more challenging surface compared to the previous day.

Despite being equipped with standard Michelin e-Premacy tires, the Jaecoo J8 had no trouble navigating the previously mentioned challenges.

So, what is the secret that prevents the Jaecoo J8 from making drivers sweat?

 

1. Powerful Engine

The 2.0L turbo inline-four engine, capable of delivering 249 PS and 385 Nm of torque, responds quickly without significant delay.

With just consistent throttle control, this SUV successfully tackled all the challenging sections presented.

Most importantly, it was hard to detect any tire slippage, showcasing the efficiency of the systems offered.

 

2. AWD System with Torque Vectoring Control

For this challenge, we had the opportunity to drive the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the Jaecoo J8, which is also equipped with Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control.

According to Jaecoo, this AWD system features a dual-clutch setup that can independently distribute torque, allowing 100% of the engine power to be sent to the rear wheels that have better traction.

 

3. Adaptive CDC Suspension

As standard, the Jaecoo J8 comes with MacPherson strut suspension at the front, assisted by a multi-link setup at the rear.

It also features CDC, which stands for Continuous Damping Control.

This CDC feature adjusts the suspension damping settings in as little as 0.002 seconds, depending on the selected driving mode and current road conditions.

There are three levels: Soft, Medium, and Hard.

What we noticed was that the cabin remained free of significant vibrations and noise from rough road surfaces, particularly while navigating the Rock Crawl section.

It felt like nothing was happening inside the cabin, even though outside, we witnessed the chassis of the Jaecoo J8 swaying and bouncing as it attempted to overcome the large rocky path.

The driver could still maintain calm, confidence, and smooth control while not sacrificing comfort.

 

4. Powerful Weapon for Flash Floods in the Capital

The Jaecoo J8 offers a ground clearance of 170 mm, which is relatively standard compared to other off-road SUVs.

However, with the ability to wade through water up to 450 mm deep, it is a highly beneficial feature for Malaysians occasionally facing flash floods in the capital.

Or perhaps when navigating rural backroads to complete tasks.

Or if you occasionally want to unwind in a camping area that is generally far from major road access, where the road surfaces are not always pleasant.

 

Conclusion

You no longer need to spend RM400k-RM500k to enjoy an exhilarating off-road experience.

With a budget starting from just RM198,800 for the AWD version, you can experience a stylish and comfortable premium urban SUV, while also having the confidence to conquer all kinds of terrains.

These off-road accessories by ARB will make you forget the true looks of the Kia Tasman

For those who missed the news, Kia has produced a genuine ladder-frame pickup truck to compete against rivals like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.

It has become a hot topic due to Kia’s somewhat unusual design approach.

However, if you are still interested in Kia products and want to hide that peculiar appearance, ARB, an off-road accessory company, has some offerings.

Among them is a front bull bar complete with a skid plate and recovery points.

There is also a larger bull bar with fender bars connected to a side step structure for a more aggressive look.

In addition, ARB offers several bed structure options, including an enclosed cargo space for storing camping or woodworking equipment.

Customization according to individual needs is also possible.

Given the higher ground clearance depicted in these generated images, it is not impossible that ARB will offer a suspension upgrade kit for the Kia Tasman model.

2026 Subaru Outback showcases a bolder, more rugged design

For several generations, the Subaru Outback has been recognized as a station wagon ready to tackle off-road adventures.

The recently launched seventh-generation model, coinciding with its 30th anniversary celebration, returns with a bolder appearance.

There are no details yet regarding the dimensions of this new off-road wagon.

However, the Subaru Outback is expected to offer a ground clearance of 220 mm, along with a more boxy design aimed at maximizing cabin space.

With a roofline that is 50.8 mm higher and a wider opening, the Outback’s cargo area now reaches up to 991 liters.

The front of the Outback features overlapping headlight designs and a larger grille structure, while the sides showcase more pronounced wheel arches.

The Outback’s roof rails can support a static load of up to 363 kg.

Inside the cabin, there’s a central 12.1-inch screen and a 12.3-inch digital cluster that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) control buttons remain in a physical format located beneath the central screen.

In terms of power, the 2026 Subaru Outback maintains a 2.4-liter turbo engine that now produces 260 hp, along with an optional 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine generating 180 hp.

Both engines are paired with a CVT transmission and come standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

Looking for something more rugged?

The Subaru Outback is available in a Wilderness variant, which comes with several unique features.

For example, it includes a more aggressive front bumper complete with the word “SUBARU,” dull black body cladding, specific Wilderness accents, additional underbody protection, 17-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, and an electronically controlled suspension damping system.

Key off-road driving angles for the Wilderness model have also been improved compared to the standard Outback, with an approach angle of 20 degrees, a departure angle of 22.5 degrees, and a breakover angle of 21.2 degrees.

It can also tow loads of up to 1,500 kg, aided by a revised rear bumper and upgraded trailer hitch hardware.

Porsche 911 Dakar to feature T-Hybrid engine, enhanced off-road performance

Production of the limited edition 911 Dakar model wrapped up last November, with only 2,500 units produced worldwide.

However, don’t be disheartened, as reports indicate that Porsche is working to reintroduce the 911 Dakar with a more powerful engine.

According to a report from Autocar citing several sources, the new Porsche 911 Dakar is currently being developed at the Weissach engineering center and will be offered in limited units.

The report also states that this “facelifted” 911 Dakar will feature an innovative T-Hybrid engine that has already debuted in several facelift variations of the 911 launched for the 2025 model year.

The T-Hybrid powertrain in question combines a brand new 3.6-liter turbo flat-six engine with an electric motor and a 1.9 kWh battery pack.

This setup is capable of producing up to 534 hp and 750 Nm of torque, significantly more powerful than the existing 3.0-liter flat-six engine with 437 hp found in the current 911 Dakar.

This increased power will help the new 911 Dakar achieve a faster 0-100 km/h acceleration time compared to the previous model’s 3.4 seconds.

For reference, the facelifted 911 GTS with the new T-Hybrid engine can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.

More details are expected to be announced ahead of the official launch scheduled for later this year.

Volvo EX30 Cross Country debuts with AWD, off-road tires

In the past, the name “Cross Country” was used by Volvo to bridge the gap between wagon models and SUVs.

However, it is now being applied to the brand’s most compact SUV, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country.

This rugged version of the Volvo EX30 features unique characteristics, such as matching protective plastic paneling, a skid plate, and exclusive 18-inch rims fitted with all-terrain tires.

Additionally, Volvo has modified the rear suspension settings of the EX30 Cross Country to better handle more challenging terrains.

At the front, a black panel displays a relief map of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Sweden.

As standard, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country is equipped with a dual electric motor producing 422 hp and 542 Nm of torque, paired with a 69 kWh battery pack.

While the originally stated range of 427 km may be difficult to achieve with the aforementioned all-terrain tire setup, there’s no need to worry.

The Volvo EX30 supports DC fast charging at 153 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes.

GWM showcases new PHEV technology, launches off-road initiative in Changbaishan

When we talk about off-road driving, several brands and models of vehicles suitable for this purpose inevitably come to mind.

However, it’s important to note that Chinese automotive manufacturers are no longer lagging far behind as they once were.

In fact, with the advent of various new and rugged technologies, they are now able to stand shoulder to shoulder with leading brands around the world.

From January 9 to 15, GWM held an event known as the Ice & Snow Festival in the mountainous region of Changbai, Jilin Province.

There, we were given the opportunity to personally test the capabilities of the Haval, Tank, and Poer off-road vehicle lineup as they maneuvered through extreme icy and snowy paths in temperatures plummeting to negative 30 degrees Celsius.

Despite being equipped with standard factory specifications without any modifications, all of these off-road vehicles proved their true capabilities by successfully navigating a variety of terrains around the Huamei Resort.

A major highlight of the Ice & Snow Festival was the introduction of a new plug-in hybrid system through the Tank 500 Hi4-Z model.

Compared to the more “hardcore” Hi4-T hybrid system, the Hi4-Z no longer features a drive shaft connecting the engine to the rear axle.

Instead, the rear wheels are now powered by an electric motor.

As a result, GWM is able to include a larger capacity battery pack (59.05 kWh) that offers an emission-free range of up to 200 km!

With a 2.0-liter turbo engine (248 hp/380 Nm) paired with two electric motors, the Hi4-Z system can produce a total power output of 852 hp and torque of 1,195 Nm.

This allows the Tank 500 Hi4-Z to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

In addition, GWM also launched the GWM Off-Road Alliance initiative.

This latest initiative aims to strengthen the global off-road community by offering various activities such as off-road driving technique training and optimizing vehicle performance for different terrain types.

GWM also introduced an off-road trail grading system (on a scale of 1 to 10) that provides a clearer framework for tackling various terrain conditions.

For drivers in Malaysia, this grading system can serve as a reference for preparing to face challenges such as sandy coastal areas, muddy farm tracks, and steep mountainous roads.

All of this is designed to ensure that the off-road community can enjoy challenging journeys more safely while also having a fun experience.

Jaecoo J5 set to enter Malaysian market next year (Q4 2025), challenging X50, HR-V

Described as a pet-friendly SUV, the Jaecoo J5 comes equipped with several beneficial features.

For instance, extended seats for pet comfort, an air conditioning system with powerful filtration capabilities, smart climate control, and antibacterial health devices that can inhibit any bacteria growth inside the cabin.

The Jaecoo J5 is also suitable for outdoor activities as it has the ability to accommodate a load of up to 1,250 kg, a roof rack capable of holding up to 75 kg, charging ports, hooks in the cargo space, as well as versatile camping lights.

Other features include a free-hanging system, a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, and a 1.45 square meter panoramic glass roof claimed to be the largest in its class.

According to media reports, the Jaecoo J5 is equipped with the same 1.6-liter turbo TGDI engine used in the Jaecoo J7, producing 194 hp and 290 Nm paired with a seven-speed DCT transmission.

As mentioned earlier, the Jaecoo J5 has been confirmed for the Malaysian market in the fourth quarter of the upcoming year (Q4 2025) and will compete with models in its segment such as the Proton X50, Honda HR-V, Chery Omoda 5, and Peugeot 2008.

The idea of sports cars transformed into off-road or rally versions is not a new one. The Porsche 959 was modified for the Paris-Dakar rally in the 1980s, while the Datsun 240Z competed in the East African Safari Rally in 1973.

However, recent years have seen an increase in the production of sports cars offering off-road and rally editions. Who wouldn’t love them? They look cool, fast, and are not afraid to conquer rough terrains. Here, we list eight options of sports car models in off-road versions available today:

1. Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato

The emergence of the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is rather unbelievable. With its sharp and aggressive supercar appearance, it wasn’t easy to transform it into a rugged off-road style. However, Lamborghini successfully infused the Huracan with off-road aesthetics that complement its nature.

It sits 44mm higher than the standard model, equipped with special run-flat tires from Bridgestone. The car still runs on a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine producing 610PS, but with Rally modifications that enhance its AWD setup and suspension system.

2. Porsche 911 Dakar

The Porsche 911 has been one of the most popular models to be converted into off-road or rally versions. The 911 Dakar is an official model from Porsche, paying tribute to the original 911 that triumphed in the Paris-Dakar rally in 1984 and 1986.

Compared to the standard model, the 911 Dakar sits 50mm higher, powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine from the GTS variant delivering 480PS, and outfitted with special Pirelli Scorpion tires. Only 2,500 units will be produced.

3. Nissan Safari Rally Z Tribute

The Safari Rally Z Tribute is not just for the SEMA showcase; it is a modern variation of the Datsun 240Z that won the 1971 Safari Rally. Based on the new Nissan 400Z, the Safari Rally Tribute version features KW suspension with an additional 2 inches, spotlights, and under-chassis protection plates.

Inside, it boasts a roll cage, Recaro seats, 4-point harness, and even a paper map. Undoubtedly cool. Hopefully, Nissan will release a version for the public to purchase.

4. Morgan Plus Four CX-T

Did you ever think Morgan would venture into the off-road scene? Interestingly, Morgan has been a popular choice for time attack and hill-climb competitions. The CX-T version utilizes the Plus Four model and is tuned by Rally Raid UK experts, showcasing rally springs, shock absorbers, a roll cage, fog lights, and various other accessories.

5. Singer ACS

The 911 Dakar and Huracan Sterrato are undeniably cool, but they pale in comparison to the Singer ACS or the full name: All-Terrain Competition Study.

A collaboration between Singer and 911 expert Richard Tuthil, it may seem like a modest 450PS in power, but ordering this model allows for power enhancements. This might just be our favorite off-road version of a sports car.

6. Lancia Stratos

When asked which off-road sports car is the most original, the answer must be the Lancia Stratos. Designed with a very short wheelbase, not to look cool, but for rallying purposes. This design provides the Stratos with agile handling and a tendency towards oversteer, which rally enthusiasts go crazy for.

Only 492 Stratos were ever built, making it rarer than the Lamborghini Miura. It also achieved victory in the World Rally Championship from 1974 to 1976, solidifying its legendary status.

7. Ariel Nomad

Britain seems to have two ideas for high-performance off-road vehicles. One is the Range Rover V8, while the other is the Ariel Nomad, a blend of the Ariel Atom, dune buggy, Tamiya RC car, and fairground ride. It is powered by a Honda 2.4-liter engine delivering power to the rear wheels.

With an open cabin devoid of a roof and doors, the Nomad promises genuine fun on off-road trails.

8. RUF Rodeo

Given the popularity of the 911 in off-road settings, it seems RUF also wants to showcase their take on it. With higher suspension, off-road tires, a upgraded flat-six engine, and luxurious leather accents in the cabin, enter the RUF Rodeo.

The tuned turbocharged engine generates 610hp, transmitting power to all wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Rodeo is also equipped with double-wishbone suspension with pushrod shock absorbers at the front and rear, along with 6-piston brakes at the front and 4-piston brakes at the rear.
