Result Japan unveils retro body kit for Toyota GT86, complete with pop-up headlights!

Pop-up headlights—also known as retractable headlights—were among the features that made cars from the 1980s and 1990s look exceptionally cool on the road.

However, due to stricter safety regulations, vehicles equipped with such headlights have gradually disappeared from the market.

For those who miss this feature, a Japanese company has the answer.

The Neo86 body kit transforms the front end of the Toyota GT86 with a retro-style angular bumper, a simplified engine hood, and most importantly: fully operational pop-up headlights!

Additionally, the kit includes separate turn signals and yellow fog lights, which are essential accessories for the AE86 tofu shop cars.

Completing the retro look of the GT86 are wide fender flares, a ducktail spoiler, aftermarket LED taillights, and black Watanabe wheels.

The Neo86 kit will be showcased at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon and pre-orders will open at the same time.

In good news, Result Japan will offer the Neo86 kit not only for the domestic market but will also expand availability worldwide.

DAMD Resonator injects American elements into the Honda Stepwgn

Several new body kit projects will be showcased by leading body kit manufacturer DAMD at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon this month.

One that caught our attention is the Renonator body kit, which transforms the Honda Stepwgn minivan into a distinctly American-style van.

The original minimalist look of the Stepwgn has been replaced with a more stylish front, starting with four overlapping rectangular halogen headlights and separate turn signals.

The grille structure is also larger, accompanied by a flatter hood and an intentionally unpainted additional structure on the front bumper.

The retro elements of the Renonator are further enhanced by the presence of wood decals on the sides, Dean Cross Country chrome disc rims, and amber position lights on the roof.

All four corners of the wheel arches are fitted with Toyo Tires Open Country A/T tires.

Interestingly, DAMD claims that this kit can be installed without major modifications while still retaining the original Honda emblem complete with ADAS sensors.

You can also get a closer look at this American-style minivan at DAMD’s booth at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, which will take place later this month.

DAMD Reverb creating an identity crisis for the Honda WR-V

Are you bored with the standard appearance of the Honda WR-V?

If an identity crisis is what you’re looking for, worry not, as this Japanese tuning company is indeed an expert in transforming the looks of standard models into something much more distinctive.

DAMD will showcase several interesting models at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.

One of them is the Reverb, a Honda WR-V (also known as Honda Elevate) that has been redesigned to resemble a Jeep Cherokee XJ.

The front end of the Honda WR-V has been completely altered, featuring rectangular headlights and a six-slot grille that reminds us of the classic Cherokee model.

Additionally, the sides of this SUV have been adorned with decals that mimic wood paneling found on vintage American station wagons, followed by unpainted plastic wheel arch cladding.

Completing this stylish image is a set of black steel rims wrapped in BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires.

In addition to the WR-V, DAMD will also present the following models:

1. Stuart – A Toyota Sienta with a front design reminiscent of a Mini Cooper
2. Rodney – A sportier version of the Honda N-Box Custom
3. Lucky – A Daihatsu Taft that resembles the 90s Daihatsu Rocky F300

Autozam AZ-1 transforms into Ferrari F40 courtesy of Liberty Walk

WHEN I think of Liberty Walk, the first thing that comes to my mind are high-powered vehicles such as the Lamborghini Aventador, Nissan GT-R and McLaren 650S wearing outlandish body kits.

For their latest project, however, the renowned Japanese tuner has taken a slightly different approach by developing a body kit for a much more docile car, the Autozam AZ-1.

The AZ-1 is a kei sports car with a mid-engine configuration produced by Mazda under the Autozam brand in the early 90s. And the latest body kit from Liberty Walk will transform it into a Ferrari F40.

Needless to say, due to its miniature size, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this is not a genuine F40. That being said, there’s no denying that its front end bears a striking resemblance to the fabled Italian supercar.

Not only that, this body kit also includes canards, a front splitter, and of course, Liberty Walk’s staple, wider front and rear fenders to ensure complete transformation. The left and right door panels have embossing in the shape of NACA ducts, inspired by that of the F40.

At the rear, you’ll find a tall, fixed spoiler with big endplates and a diffuser with long strakes to help enhance aerodynamic efficiencly. Like the F40, the Liberty Walk-kitted AZ-1 also boasts centre-exit triple muffler tips.

According to the company’s website, the AZ-1 body kit package is priced starting from 2,226,000 yen (RM71,405), excluding the front and rear lights.

Additionally, customers looking to complete the F40-inspired look on their AZ-1 can opt for LB forged wheels measuring 16 inches in the front and 17 inches in the rear, priced at 1,430,000 yen (RM45,871).
