GGR Motor recently hosted an official visit from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) of the Federal Territory at the GGR Legacy (M) factory in Kampung Sungai Penchala last Thursday.

The working visit, which included 25 members of the JPJ Federal Territory, was led by Deputy Director Eric Jusiang to assess the operations of GGR Motor as the first local manufacturer of electric motorcycles.

According to GGR Motor’s Managing Director, Muhammad Mussaddiq Mohamed Azmi, this initiative marks an essential starting point to ensure the production of electric vehicles (EV) in the country adheres to established standards.

“We are extremely proud and honored that the JPJ WP took the time to visit our factory. It serves as recognition of our efforts in developing EV motorcycles in Malaysia,” he stated.

Eric Jusiang and his team were welcomed by the Chairman of GGR Motor, Tengku Syarif Temenggong Perlis, Datuk Seri Diraja Syed Amir Abidin Jamalullail, and Muhammad Mussaddiq.

In addition to receiving an operational briefing, the JPJ delegation was also taken on a tour of the accessory sales building, service workshop, and operational areas that support the EV ecosystem.

It is understood that GGR Motor plans to build a new assembly plant in the northern Peninsula, which will serve as a major production hub for the Lion G1 model and several upcoming models.

Built on a site of over one acre, this factory is expected to create more than 50 new job opportunities and will be strengthened through strategic collaborations with PMH Motor, Bateriku.com, MARA, and Petronas Lubricants Marketing Malaysia (PLMM).

According to Mussaddiq, the Lion G1 electric motorcycle can officially be registered through the JPJ system starting September 1.

“We anticipate that in the near future, the ordered EV motorcycles will be ready for registration. More than 6,000 units are expected to be delivered to customers soon,” he said.

Within a week of its launch, the Lion G1 recorded over 2,500 units in orders, clearly indicating the acceptance of Malaysians towards EVs as an alternative for daily mobility.
