JPJ recalls 8,322 vehicles from Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Yamaha
The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a recall campaign affecting 8,322 units of vehicles from three brands.
Of this total, 5,123 units of the Kia Rio UB (model years 2010-2017) are being recalled due to a potential risk of short circuits that could cause a fire in the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU).
Meanwhile, 1,649 units of the Yamaha MT-09 and 1,369 units of the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT (models manufactured from November 2021 to February 2025) are also being recalled due to malfunctioning Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) components.
Additionally, 149 units of the 2023-2024 Tenere 700 are affected by clutch operation issues that could interfere with gear shifting.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has also announced a recall involving 32 units of various models (S-Class, GLC-Class, AMG SL, EQE, and EQS) due to improperly reinstalled fuse boxes that may compromise the system’s functionality.
All affected owners will be contacted by their respective vehicle manufacturers to arrange inspection appointment slots.
According to JPJ, any components involved in the recall will be replaced at no cost to the owners.
