Goodyear Malaysia has launched its new premium tire products, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and the Asymmetric 6 SUV, coinciding with the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur event held recently.
Since its introduction in 1980, the Goodyear Eagle F1 series has become synonymous with innovation inspired by motorsport.
Designated as the Official Tire of 2025 TASKL, Goodyear Malaysia believes that the latest Eagle Asymmetric 6 SUV tire will meet the needs of customers seeking a balance between performance and comfort.
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV features four key technologies:
Wet Braking Pro – Improved handling and braking on wet roads.

Yadea Malaysia has announced the launch of the new 2025 Velax electric scooter coinciding with the opening of its 17th Mforce SmartShop in Johor.
With a base price of RM7,099, this electric scooter also qualifies for a RM2,400 rebate under the MARiiCas program.
This means that Malaysians can purchase the Velax for as low as RM4,699 after the rebate.
In terms of power, the scooter features an electric motor rated at 2.68 hp (with a maximum power output of 4.3 hp) and a torque of 172 Nm, with a top speed of up to 62 km/h and two riding modes to choose from: S (Sport) and E (Eco).
The LFP 72V 30Ah battery pack offers a riding range of up to 105 km on a full charge and requires only six hours to charge from 0% to 80%.
The Yadea Velax is also rated IPX7 for water resistance, allowing it to operate even when submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.
Additional features include a CBS disc braking system at the front and rear, a front telescopic fork, twin rear shock absorbers, 14-inch rims, and a reverse gear function.
Furthermore, it is equipped with LED lighting, emergency lights, a side stand safety switch, front and under-seat storage compartments, a digital display, and support for connection to a mobile app.
The total weight with the battery is approximately 110 kg, while the seat height is 760 mm, making it suitable for riders of various physiques.
GAC Malaysia welcomes renowned actor and personality Datuk Remy Ishak as its newest brand ambassador.
Datuk Remy Ishak will join existing ambassador Jack Lim to continue representing the GAC brand as part of the preparations for the launch of two new models: the GAC Emkoo and GAC M8 PHEV.

The GAC Emkoo is a C-segment SUV and is the second model assembled as a CKD by GAC after the GS3 Emzoom.
It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo engine capable of producing 177 PS at 5,500 rpm and 270 Nm at 1,400-5,000 rpm, paired with a seven-speed DCT transmission.
There will be two variants available: the Premium, with an estimated price starting from RM120,000, and the Premium Pro, starting from RM130,000.
The first group of GAC Emkoo owners will receive their units by the end of September 2025, or possibly earlier.
The second model to be launched by GAC Malaysia is the luxurious GAC M8 PHEV MPV.
Fully imported from China, the M8 PHEV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine (190 PS/300 Nm) paired with a two-speed hybrid transmission, a 182 PS/300 Nm electric motor, and a 25.57 kWh battery pack.
Overall, this MPV can generate a total power output of 373 PS and 630 Nm, with acceleration performance of 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds.
On a full tank of fuel, the GAC M8 PHEV can offer a driving range of up to 1,038 km.
There are two variants: the M8 Premium, with an estimated price of RM333,000, and the M8 Luxury variant priced at RM380,000.
QJMotor Malaysia has launched yet another new model, the QJMotor SRK250S, in conjunction with the opening ceremony of Mforce SmartShop Tat Kang Motor Sdn Bhd.
This naked sport motorcycle is powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder 249 cc engine that produces 27.5 hp at 9,500 rpm and a torque of 22.5 Nm at 7,250 rpm.
The power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a six-speed transmission, a wet multi-plate clutch, and a chain final drive.
The suspension system consists of an inverted front fork, followed by a single adjustable coil spring shock absorber with oil damping at the rear.
The braking system features a 300 mm front rotor, complemented by a 240 mm rotor at the rear and a dual-channel ABS system.
Additional features include an LED lighting system, emergency signal lights, and a Type-A USB charging port.
All information can be read via a digital display screen that also supports Bluetooth connectivity to smart devices.
The fuel tank capacity is 12.5 liters, while the seat height is approximately 780 mm.
There are two color options available: black and gray.

Introducing the second electric SUV that Proton will be launching in the coming months, the Proton e.MAS 5.
This model was first showcased at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 in May.
Upon its launch, the Proton e.MAS 5 is expected to challenge competitors in the B-segment SUV market, such as the BYD Atto 2, and another electric SUV from Perodua.
Here are five things you need to know:
1. Dimensions
As a B-segment SUV, the e.MAS 5 measures 4,135 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, 1,580 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm.
Its ground clearance is 160 mm.
The cargo space offers 375 liters and can expand up to 1,320 liters with the second-row seats folded down.
There is also a front cargo space of 70 liters available.
2. Variants
Two main variants will be offered to consumers.
The e.MAS 5 Premium variant is equipped with a 40.16 kWh LFP CATL battery pack, providing a range of 325 km on a full charge (WLTP data).
The battery supports AC charging at 6.6 kW, and fast DC charging at 71 kW, enabling a charge from 30% to 80% in just 21 minutes.
There is also a Prime variant with a 30.12 kWh battery and a range of 250 km (WLTP data) or 310 km according to CLTC data.
3. Performance
The Proton e.MAS 5 is equipped with an 11-in-1 drive unit powering the rear wheels (RWD).
It produces a maximum power output of 114 hp and a torque of 150 Nm.
Acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h takes just 3.9 seconds.
The driving experience is enhanced by a MacPherson strut front suspension setup, followed by a multi-link setup at the rear, as well as an electric steering system.
4. Features
On the exterior, the Proton e.MAS 5 comes with LED lighting units, aerodynamic 16-inch rims, a dual-tone color scheme with a black roof, and neatly integrated door handles.
Interior features of the e.MAS 5 include a two-spoke steering wheel (with a two-tone finish), a central gear selector, an 8.8-inch digital display, and seats upholstered in faux leather.
The main screen measures 14.6 inches and includes the ATLAS Auto operating system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, a mapping system with built-in charging station locations, and voice command support in both Malay and English.

Proton has partnered with Reef Check Malaysia (RCM) to launch a beach cleanup campaign at Morib Beach as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
This effort marks the second consecutive year Proton has returned to the renowned coastal area, known for its valuable marine and mangrove ecosystems.
The latest campaign brought together 157 volunteers, including Proton staff, vendors, dealers, and bank representatives.
The main focus was on areas popular with visitors, where a total of 468.27 kg of waste was successfully collected, including cans/metal, plastic, and glass.

A BYD transport ship, the Zhengzhou, arrived at Port Klang on August 5.
The roll-on/roll-off (RORO) vessel has the capacity to carry up to 7,000 vehicles and has set sail on its inaugural journey to destinations in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore.
After Port Klang, the ship will continue to its final stop in Thailand before returning to China.
The BYD Zhengzhou is the seventh ship in BYD’s fleet of specialized transport vessels, demonstrating the company’s strong supply chain and logistics capabilities as it seeks to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs).
Completed vehicles will be driven on and off the ship, offering time and cost benefits compared to traditional container shipments.
By operating its own fleet, BYD has greater control over critical aspects of the EV supply chain.

After a prolonged teaser session, Honda has officially confirmed that the sixth-generation Prelude is set to launch in the Japanese market this September.
The Honda Prelude made its global debut during the Japan Mobility Show 2023, which took place two years ago.
Here are some key facts you need to know:
1. More than Just a Civic Coupe
Honda has used the Civic’s platform to develop the Prelude model, but with a distinctly different design approach.
The Prelude features larger diameter tires, an optimized wheelbase, and an overall design inspired by sports car aesthetics.
2. The Ideal Sports Car
Honda does not intend for the Prelude to be significantly sportier than the existing Civic Type R offerings.
Nevertheless, the Prelude is still characterized as an ideal sports car, balancing performance and practicality.
This balance is achieved through components borrowed from the Civic Type R, such as a double-wishbone front suspension and Brembo brake calipers, along with practical features like a 2+2 seating configuration, foldable rear seats, under-floor storage, and a large tailgate opening.
3. Full Specifications Still Under Wraps
At this time, Honda is not ready to reveal the full specifications of this hybrid coupe.
What is certain, however, is that there will be no manual transmission option available.
The Honda Prelude will feature a 2.0-liter hybrid engine setup with two electric motors borrowed from the Civic Hybrid, producing 200 hp and 315 Nm of torque.
Among the new technologies included is the S+ Shift mode, which simulates gear shifts similar to what is available in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
4. Cabin Design
Although built on the Civic platform, the dashboard layout of the Prelude has been given its own unique character.
In addition to a 10.25-inch digital cluster screen and a 9-inch center screen similar to the Civic, the Prelude adopts a flat-bottom steering wheel design with a 12 o’clock marker, blue stitching accents, and smaller air conditioning vents.
The center console houses buttons for the transmission operation (PRND), drive mode selection, and a special button for the previously mentioned S+ mode.
5. Accessories Ready for Purchase
Honda Japan will also offer a Sports Style accessory package for owners seeking a more aggressive image.
This package includes body-color grille trim, a black rear spoiler, black side mirror housings, and newly designed 19-inch wheels.

Below is our opinion after borrowing this Kia Sportage from Kia Malaysia for a week.
Exterior Design: too striking?
For your information, the Kia Sportage marketed here is the pre-facelift version that has been around since 2021.
The more aggressive facelift version was launched in South Korea at the end of 2024; however, to say that the design of the Sportage is outdated would be inaccurate.
Even in its pre-facelift version, the Kia Sportage remains eye-catching when cruising on the road.
With boomerang LED graphics both at the front and rear, as well as a low roofline at the back, the Sportage exudes the sporty image it aims for.
At the very least, it is an original design that can make owners satisfied when they look at it, rather than resembling any other model.
If you don’t turn back to admire your car after parking, you might have bought the wrong vehicle.
Dimensions
The AWD version of the Kia Sportage measures 4,660 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, and 1,665 mm in height, offering a wheelbase of 2,755 mm.
As a C-segment SUV, the Kia Sportage provides a comfortable cabin space for the whole family.
The absence of a panoramic sunroof is not a major issue, as headroom in this cabin is sufficiently spacious.
Rear passengers can also adjust the angle of their seatbacks for a more comfortable sitting posture, so they don’t have to remain upright all the time.
The Kia Sportage offers a standard cargo space of 543 liters, which can expand to a remarkable 1,829 liters with the second-row seats folded down.
Pleasant Features
One of the aspects I appreciated about the Kia Sportage is its driver-friendly dashboard layout.
In addition to the dual 12.3-inch curved screens, the Sportage dashboard features a touch-based control panel complete with physical knobs.
You can adjust the cabin temperature or change the media content playing through the eight speakers of the Harman Kardon audio system from this panel.
For me, this is a user-friendly feature that is highly welcome.
This is because most manufacturers tend to crowd the central screen with various functional buttons, requiring a search and potentially distracting the driver.
The center console also houses several important function buttons that are clear and easy to reach.
The PRND shift-by-wire dial certainly gives the cockpit a more spacious feel; however, there are times when I found the unconventional gear shifting somewhat awkward.
The digital cluster display in the Sportage continues to offer analog meter graphics with several themes that can be selected according to the driving mode (Eco, Normal, Sport, Smart).
Don’t worry— the infotainment screen also provides standard support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You won’t have to wait for over-the-air (OTA) updates.
If you notice, the back of the front passenger headrest features a large hook that is perfect for hanging bags or shawls.
Additionally, there are a few “teh tarik” hooks provided, making the Kia Sportage more user-friendly for Malaysians than some Malaysian-branded SUVs available on the market.
What About the Driving Experience?

I have no comments regarding the handling of this SUV, as it meets what one would expect from a Kia vehicle.
The precise and responsive steering assist keeps me focused on the winding roads ahead, allowing the vehicle to comply with every direction given by the driver’s hands.
There are times when the steering correction system engages to ensure the SUV stays on course, but its operation never feels tiring or annoying.
Safety Features
The Kia Sportage offers a comprehensive range of safety features, including six airbags, ABS, ESC, and an extensive list of advanced safety technologies.
What I want to emphasize here is the Blind-Spot Monitoring (BVM) system, which displays what is in the blind spots to the left and right of the vehicle when the turn signal is activated.
This system, found in any Kia model (including Hyundai), significantly aids in detecting objects (cars, motorcyclists) that are typically obscured in the blind spot.
Other manufacturers offer more advanced 360-degree cameras that provide a bird’s-eye view.
However, most of the time, these are more for show, as they display images of the car being driven rather than what is concealed in the blind spot.
Sportage for Weekend Getaways
Another feature I appreciate about the Kia Sportage is the rear seats that can fold flat.
There’s no need to spend money on a tent; you can transform the back of the Kia Sportage into a ‘temporary tent’ for relaxing weekend activities.
In the cargo area, there is a 12V power outlet that can be used for charging smart devices or powering light equipment.
Additionally, there is a ‘Sound of Nature’ feature available in the Sportage’s infotainment screen to accompany your activities.
While enjoying leisure time, don’t forget your obligations as a Muslim.
